Saudades do futuro

Starting from brazilian concrete poet João Cabral de Melo Neto’s poem “O Cão sem plumas”, investigations led to a reflection on my future. I asked five of my friends to write me a letter simulating their lifes in 2014, in cities/countries I asked them to.

¶ A visual matrix was built using the following elements: each one’s calligraphy, the city map, a stamp from its country, and a pictogram which reflected the letter’s general mood.

¶ I printed a poster with every friend’s data xeroxing each element and transferring the ink to the actual poster sheet using benzine and a printing press. Every poster was torn, folded and bound.

¶ The final book contains 10 years of our fragmented lives, along with a process skecthbook, some postcards and a journal. The final package was meant to be mailed via FedEx to the teacher’s house by the deadline. Single copy.
